Thung Nham Bird Garden Ninh Binh | Entrance fee & Tips to the Bird Park

Thung Nham Bird Garden is a beautiful ecotourism site as Trang An and Tam Coc but less touristy. Considered as Nam Bo miniature – regional south of Vietnam, its diverse ecosystems and spectacular landscapes appeals much to domestic and foreign tourists.

Thung Nham Bird Park entrance fee

Thung Nham Bird Park ticket is divided following:

  • Adults: 100.000 VND/visitor (~ 5 USD)
  • Children from 0.8 to 1.3 meters: 50.000 VND/visitor (~ 2.5 USD)
  • Children below 0.8 meters: free

The park opens 24 hours  and after 5:00 pm, you will get a discount of 50% on the ticket price.

Some optional tickets:

  • Thung Nham boat tour ticket: 20.000 VND/visitor (~ 1 USD)
  • But Cave ticket: 20.000 VND/visitor (~ 1 USD)

The Bird Garden

Assuredly, this is the most amazing and foremost destination of Thung Nham. The bird sanctuary is the living space of a lot of bird species such as stork, cauldron, stone flute, especially two rarest birds in the red book Hang Hac and Phuong Hoang.

But Cave (Buddha Cave)

500 meters in length, But Cave is a precious stone cave attracting adventurers conquering a new continent. In the cave, there is a Buddha-shaped stone surrounded by the beautiful underground river. No one can explain this mysterious phenomenon, no one knows how it can be created. May be you should come and find out!

To visit But Cave, you should buy a ticket at the first ticket gate.

Vai Gioi Cave

Vai Gioi Cave is about 5000 meters square and has a lot of stalactites divided into “Earth, Hell, and Paradise”. It is used to pray for favorable rain, wind and good harvests. so visitors to Thung Nham Bird Garden usually come here praying for luck.

After crossing the high slopes, it is satisfactorily compensation to capture the view of Thung Nham Bird Garden with a scene of villages and green rice fields. Seeing the view, every tiredness will be blew up.

To visit the Vai Gioi Cave, follow the main path from the ticket gate (about 500 meters), turn right then passing 439 challenging stone steps, you will reach the cave gate.

Ba Co Cave

Literally, “Ba co” can be translated as “Three girls”, this special name has an origin from a legend:

The legend said that in the past, when King Dinh Tien Hoang was poisoned, all the doctors could not find any remedy to save him. As a result, the whole residents in the country who could find a medicine to save the King will be rewarded.

At this time, there were three sisters dreamed seeing a cave in Thung Nham with precious water that can save the King. After waking up, the girls went to the cave to get the water. Unfortunately, the three girls were captured by a tiger beforing taking the holly water. To honor three girls, the local  named it Ba Co Cave.

Other highlights

Tien Ca Cave: The cave is more than 1500 meters long and has an enchanting stalactite system. Over million years of natural creation, this place also handed down a story about a petrified Mermaid. The stalactites are like the exquisite art paintings of nature.

Best time to visit Thung Nham Bird Garden

The ideal time to visit Thung Nham Bird Garden is at the end of the summer and in autumn (from August to October) or in February and March as the weather is really nice. And for the best observation, you should take a boat ride at the bird garden after 5:00 pm as it is the time birds back to their nest.
